  1. SCOPE AND CONTACT

    This Privacy Policy applies to personal data that we collect on websites (including mobile sites and apps) which link to this Privacy Policy, via registration forms, surveys, online learning tools, competition entries, at events (including awards), if you contact us (online, by post, telephone or social media) and in the course of providing our services.

    When we mention “we”, “us” or “our” in this Privacy Policy, we are referring to The Mini Training Company Limited, company number 16310423, registered office 2 Stephen Street, London, United Kingdom, W1T 1AN in our capacity as a “data controller” responsible for processing your personal data.

    Your privacy is very important to us and this Privacy Policy sets out how we will process your personal data and what rights you have in respect of your own personal data. We will securely store and process personal data which you have provided to us.

    The aim of this Privacy Policy is to tell you how we will use any personal data we collect or you provide to us. Please read it carefully before you proceed.

  2. WHAT PERSONAL DATA DO WE COLLECT?

    If you wish to register on our websites or mobile apps, subscribe to or use our services, book places at events, request further information, contact us, complete any surveys, provide feedback on our services, participate in any online learning tools, enter competitions, register for a course or network or provide content for our events or inclusion on our websites (e.g. blogs or other online forums) we will collect certain data, which may include personal data. The data we collect may include

    1. title, name, address, business phone number(s), email address and gender;

    2. employment details, such as your current role and responsibilities, experience, seniority, salary and education;

    3. information about your organisation and the industry that you work in;

    4. areas of interest which you have notified us about, as well as what we can infer from your engagement with our products and services;

    5. your marketing preferences;

    6. data collected from social networking sites;

    7. information regarding materials that you might be interested in (for example, information regarding materials we share on our networking platforms);

    8. questions, comments, requests and feedback that you provide to us as part of your use of our services; and

    9. any other information that you submit to us, including any information that you share on our networking platforms (for example, opinions or career updates you may post about, any information you provide when you comment on a post or your profile picture).

    We may receive the above information directly from you (for example, when you register for an event or when you join one of our networking platforms) or from your colleague or corporate contact who registers for a subscription, course, network or event on your behalf. We may also receive personal data about you from third parties we have a contractual relationship with, for example we will receive information about you from our publisher partners and networking platform providers when you sign up for one of our events or networking platforms.

    Please note that not all of the information we request is mandatory to provide you with our services. For example, you are not required to provide any optional information when setting up a profile one of our networking platforms.

    You may choose to add more information on your profile other than required by the necessary fields when registering for a networking platform.When you choose for your LinkedIn information to be used to auto-populate your profile on the Mini MBA Alumni Network or another networking platform, we will receive personal data about you from LinkedIn.

    Your posts and comments on our networking platforms: We will receive any information you provide as part of any posts you share on our networking platforms. Please keep in mind that any information you provide as part of any posts or comments will be available to other users of the relevant platform. If you choose to share any information that is of sensitive nature on one of our platforms, this will be your choice.

    When someone else uploads information about you on one of our networking platforms, for example, via a post or via a comment on a post, we will receive that information about you, including any personal data.We do not have control over any information that might be uploaded by any members of our networking platforms at the point at which they upload it.

    Any information shared or comments made that may be deemed inappropriate by us might be removed from our networking platforms. If your behaviour on the network is deemed inappropriate, we may close down your account and prohibit you from taking part in the relevant networking platform.

    For more information on the codes of conduct or terms of use which apply to our networking platforms, please see such terms as stipulated on the relevant platform.

    Financial Information: We will keep a record of any financial transaction you make with us. Online payments, including those made through our websites, are processed securely by the following third party payment providers: Stripe. Please refer to Stripe’s privacy policy at https://stripe.com/gb/privacy for details of how your payment card data is processed by them.

    Device and browsing data: In addition, we may automatically collect information about any website that you came from or are going to. We also collect information about the pages of our websites which you visit (including those on which you access our services), the links you click on, IP addresses, the type of browser you use and the times you access our websites. Some of this information is aggregated and is not used to identify you, but we also use analytics software on our websites which allows us to link information about your use of our websites back to you, where you have logged into your account. We may observe your use of our websites and services, whether you open emails we have sent to you and/or events that you attend (where you use the bar coded name badge which we issue) and your activities at those events (such as the exhibitors you interact with). We may infer and derive certain information from these observations such as what additional brands, subscriptions, content or events you or a user similar to you may be interested in. This information will be used for our own internal and marketing purposes.

    Sales and marketing solutions data: We obtain data relating to business professionals from third party data providers. This includes data concerning job role and business contact information. We use this information to contact people in their professional capacity about events, webinars, reports and content that we and our clients and sponsors are participating in that we believe will be of interest to them.

    Online publications and insight products: Our online publications and insight products contain personal data related to relevant industry professionals and public figures. We receive information directly from the individuals featured within our online publications when we interview them or ask them to comment on an article.

    We process information in press releases and materials promoting events, including press contact information, which we may make available, where relevant, to our subscribers. We also use a range of publicly available sources such as government, company and law firm websites, social media, such as LinkedIn, court records and regulatory websites, such as the SRA, legal directories, other news reports and online commentary.

    Cookies: We use cookies to collect information about you online. Please read https://minimba.com/cookie-policy/ for further information on the cookies we use and how you can enable/disable them.

  3. HOW WILL YOUR PERSONAL DATA BE USED AND SHARED?

    In accordance with data protection legislation, we will only process your personal data where we have a lawful basis for doing so. These bases are: (i) where it is necessary for the performance of a contract we have with you; (ii) where you have provided your consent; (iii) where it is necessary for us to comply with a legal obligation that we are subject to; or (iv) where it is in our (or a third party’s) legitimate interests and such interests are not overridden by your interests or fundamental rights and freedoms.

    Specifically, we’ve set out in this Privacy Policy the purposes for which we process your personal data and the lawful basis on which we carry out such processing.

    We use the personal data we collect to:

    1. provide the products and services you (or the company you work for) have ordered, signed-up to or otherwise use (necessary for a contract with you or, where your company contracts with us, our legitimate interests in fulfilling our contract with the company you work for);

    2. register you for events and administer those events (including informing the venues where our events are hosted of any dietary or access requirements you may have told us about) (necessary for a contract with you and necessary to comply with our legal obligations);

    3. invite you to join our Mini MBA Alumni Network (our legitimate interests in operating the network, including the development of our brand and the Mini MBA’s popularity)

    4. register you for and administer courses and networks you have signed up for, including sharing personal data with and receiving personal data from LinkedIn for purposes of auto-populating your Mini MBA Alumni Network profile (necessary for a contract with you);

    5. provide you with the ability to connect with us and other individuals and organisations via the chat functionality on our networking platforms (necessary for our contract with you)

    6. notify you of key information in relation to your subscription, course or network you have joined or any events you are attending, including via notifications on our networking platforms (necessary for a contract with you and legitimate interests, of our customers, to ensure they are up to date with necessary information);

    7. verify your identity and details of your purchase (where payments are required) (necessary to comply with our legal obligations) (necessary for a contract with you);

    8. administer our websites and mobile apps (such as access controls) and provide customer services, for example, adding you in alumni groups as part of your membership with the Mini MBA Alumni Network (legitimate interests, of us and our customers, to ensure a good quality of service and security);

    9. aggregate information about you with other users (legitimate interests, of us, to better understand what services our users will be interested in);

    10. meet legal, regulatory and compliance requirements (necessary to comply with our legal obligations);

    11. monitor and analyse the use of any account to prevent, investigate and/or report fraud, terrorism, misrepresentation, security incidents or crime (legitimate interests, of us and our users, for security);

    12. gather information to form statistical and trend analysis including to monitor user demographic (legitimate interests, of us, so we can better understand those that use our products and services and improve our products, services, events and marketing practices);

    13. monitor your use of our products and services and attendance at events, as well as your responses to targeted direct marketing emails, in order to build up customer profiles (including through use of analytics software) (legitimate interests, of us, to help us identify content and marketing materials which will be of interest to you and other customers like you);

    14. communicate with you including responding to your enquiries (necessary for a contract, or consent);

    15. send you surveys (consent);

    16. send you market research questions to help us better understand our position in the market (legitimate interests);

    17. contact you to seek your feedback (legitimate interests, of us, in helping us improve);

    18. use your feedback in our marketing materials (legitimate interests, of us, to promote our products and services);

    19. investigate any complaints about our websites, products, services or events (legitimate interests, for us and our customers, to ensure that we maintain high service levels);

    20. develop, enhance and improve products and services, including by reviewing how individuals use our products and services and feedback that we receive; in some circumstances, we use personal data contained in content on our online publications to tailor AI systems to be incorporated into our products and services (legitimate interests to develop, enhance and improve our service offering, consent in respect of the use of cookies or similar technologies);

    21. personalise your experience of our websites, products, services and events. This includes, without limitation, by displaying targeted advertising and content which we believe likely to be relevant and of interest to you (please see below for further details) (consent or legitimate interests (as indicated in our consent management platform). We will also personalise your use of our services by providing you with information about our content, events and products that we think will be of interest to you based on how you interact with our services (legitimate interests to provide tailored content for you, or consent where required by law). We will seek your consent for the use of any cookies in connection with this;

    22. provide you with the prize for competitions you enter and win (necessary for a contract with you) and to comply with regulatory requirements to disclose a competition winner’s name and county (necessary to comply with our legal obligations); and

    We may also process your personal data for additional purposes in the future, but only if such purposes are compatible with those listed above and if we believe that the same lawful basis applies.

    In certain circumstances, you may be obliged to provide us with your personal data under a statutory or contractual requirement. This might include, but is not limited to, personal data we require to enter into an agreement with you (for example, information required for registration for our networking platforms); for tax and accounting purposes; and to enable us to fulfil our compliance and other obligations under relevant legislation or regulation. Failure to provide us with personal data required under a statutory or contractual requirement may prevent us from performing our obligations under a contract with you or entering into a contract with you (for example, our networking platforms will not be available to you if you do not provide the necessary information for the registration form).

    Marketing Communications

    Our own marketing: We may from time to time contact you by email, SMS, telephone or post about our products and services (including from all our brands within our business) that may be of interest to you (legitimate interests, of us, to promote our products and services, and of our customers, to keep them up to date with promotions, events and subscriptions which may be relevant to their professions and job roles). Further information about such marketing is below.

    From other brands within our business: We may also send you business-to-business marketing about products, services and events of other brands within our business which we think may be of interest to you.

    Promoting our and our clients and sponsors’ content and events: We contact existing customers and other business professionals we have identified as having a potential interest in our and our clients’ and sponsors’ content and events (including those whose details have been provided to us by third party data providers) in order to promote that content and those events to them. This is in the legitimate commercial interests of us and our clients and sponsors in order to ensure the content and events reach as many relevant people as possible and to encourage greater engagement with the content and events.

    Opting-out: Our customers and potential customers always have the right to let us know that they no longer want to be contacted for marketing purposes. If at any point you would like to opt-out of receiving such marketing communications from us, or would like to change the channels that we use to contact you, please click on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any emails you receive, or email us, stating your preferences, at preferences@minimba.com

    Third party marketing: We may share your registration information (including name, job title and contact details) with third parties for marketing purposes, where you have provided consent for us to do so or otherwise in the circumstances set out below and in the “other ways in which we use and share your personal data” section.

    Other ways in which we use and share your personal data

    Sales calls recordings: We record calls and video calls made by our sales team for internal training purposes, including following a complaint (legitimate interests, of us, to maintain high standards and establish facts). We keep the recordings and written transcripts for 3 years.

    Group companies: We may share your personal data with other companies in the Brave Bison group for the above purposes and in the event of corporate restructuring (legitimate interests, of us, for internal efficiencies).

    Your profiles on our networking platforms: Your profile will be visible to other members of the networking platforms you use, unless you change your profile’s settings. Other members of the network will be able to find your profile on the network, unless you change your profile’s settings. Any information you provide on posts or comments will also be visible to other members of the network.

    Your employer: Where your subscription to our service is a part of a wider corporate subscription (i.e. your employer obtains a subscription for its employees) we may share information about your use of the service with your employer (legitimate interests, of your employer, so they can understand how their staff are making use of the resources they have purchased). We may also share information about your participation in any of our online learning tools or courses, including whether you have completed the relevant tool or course and your course results and score, unless you tell us that you would prefer not to have this information shared (legitimate interests, of your employer, so they can understand how their staff are making use of the resources they have purchased).

    Service providers: We may employ the services of third party service providers, including (but not limited to) technology platforms, to help us in certain areas such as website hosting, maintenance, call centre operation, the operation of events and customer relationship management, including to track our marketing efforts. We also use third party technology and AI providers to assist us to provide our services. In some cases the third party may receive your personal data (in some instances this will be on the basis of legitimate interests, of us, for service efficiency and to benefit from third party expertise, and our customers so they experience a good quality of service). However, at all times, we will control and be responsible for the use of your personal data and we will endeavour to ensure that our service providers are bound by contractual obligations to only process your personal data in accordance with our instructions. In some circumstances, we may enable third party service providers to anonymise your personal data and use the anonymised and aggregated data to enable them to improve their underlying services.

    Aggregate information: As mentioned above, we may use aggregated information so we can administer and improve our website, and services, analyse trends and gather broad demographic information and detect suspicious or fraudulent transactions. We may pass this information to third parties. In most cases this information will be anonymised, meaning that you will not be able to be identified from it.

    Online advertising: We may share some of your information with advertisers, ad servers and ad networks to deliver targeted advertising both on our websites and on selected partner websites but this will not include any personal contact information based on the consents you have provided in our consent management platform when visiting our sites. However, by interacting with or viewing an advert, you should be aware that the third party may make the assumption that you meet the targeting criteria used to display the advert.     Surveys: If you complete a survey, unless we inform you otherwise, your answers will be aggregated and anonymised for research and analysis purposes. However, if you choose to provide any information in your response to a survey which identifies you (e.g. name, job title), we may be able to identify you from this. If you choose to submit your email address to enter into any prize associated with the survey, this will be used to administer the prize only and will not be linked to your survey responses (necessary for a contract). We may share your responses in an aggregated and anonymised form with third parties carrying out research relating to the topics covered in the survey or, if the survey relates to your use of one of our subscription products, and this forms part of a corporate subscription taken out by your employer for you and other employees, we may share information provided in your survey responses about your use of the subscription with your employer (legitimate interests, for research purposes). If you have included information about yourself in your survey responses (e.g. name, job title), third parties or your employer (as appropriate) may be able to identify you from this. Our surveys may be sent out directly by us or by third parties on our behalf.

    Administration of justice: We may occasionally be required by law, court order or governmental authority to disclose certain types of personal data (necessary to comply with a legal obligation, or for legitimate interests in connection with a legal claim against us). Examples of the type of situation where this would occur would be:

    1. in the administration of justice; or

    2. where we have to defend ourselves legally.

    Other: We use publicly available sources to research prospective customers in order to send them marketing information about products and services relevant to them (legitimate interests, to grow our business).

    If you are submitting personal data on behalf of another or are submitting personal data which may be used publicly on our products, you should only do so where you have the consent of the individual and it will be your responsibility to ensure that the individual is made aware of this Privacy Policy and our processing of their personal data.

  4. SALE OF THE BUSINESS

    In the event that the business is sold or integrated with another business, your details will be disclosed to our advisers and any prospective purchaser’s advisers and will be passed to the new owners of the business (our legitimate interests in the transaction, including our commercial interests).

  5. FRAUD PREVENTION AND AUTOMATED DECISION-MAKING

    Our third party payment service providers may check the validity of the sort code, account number and card number you submit in order to prevent fraud as well as to process any transaction you attempt via our websites. Any decision to deny you services based on the validity of your card details will be made solely by automated means. If you are denied a service because of this automated decision-making you are entitled to request us to further investigate. Please contact us at customerdata@minimba.com where you have been denied access to a service based on your card details being declared invalid and you consider this to be in error. It may also be the case that you will need to contact your bank / payment provider.

    If false or inaccurate information is provided and fraud is identified, details may be passed to fraud prevention agencies. Law enforcement agencies may access and use this information. We and other organisations may also access and use this information to prevent fraud and money laundering, for example when:

    1. checking details in applications for credit and credit related or other facilities;

    2. managing credit and credit related accounts or facilities;

    3. recovering debt;

    4. checking details on proposals and claims for all types of insurance; and

    5. checking details of job applicants and employees.

  6. TRANSFER OF YOUR PERSONAL DATA OUTSIDE THE UK AND EEAWe may transfer some of your personal data to our sub-contractors in the United States of America. In addition, we and third parties (such as service providers processing personal data on our behalf), transfer personal data to servers and third parties outside the UK and EEA including in the United States of America and India. These countries may not have equivalent data protection legislation to the UK. However, when we transfer your personal data in this way we will endeavour to ensure that adequate safeguard measures are in place so that your personal data is treated in a way that is consistent with and which respects the UK and EEA laws on data protection, including via standard contractual clauses.     If you sign up for one of our events outside the EEA (for example, we hold events in the United States of America and Hong Kong), we may also transfer some of your personal information to the country where that event is being held, to the extent necessary to enable you to attend that event.

  7. LINKS

    Our site contains links to other websites over which we have no control. We are not responsible for privacy policies or practices of other websites to which you choose to link from this site. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of those other websites so you can understand how they collect, use and share your personal data.

  8. SECURITY

    We have implemented reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to secure your personal data from accidental loss and from unauthorised access, use, alteration or disclosure. However, the Internet is an open system and we cannot guarantee that unauthorised third parties will never be able to defeat those measures or use your personal data for improper purposes.

  9. YOUR RIGHTS

    Under certain circumstances, by law, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:

    1. a right of access to your personal data held by us;

    2. a right to receive your personal data in machine-readable format (known as data portability);

    3. a right to object to processing of your personal data where we are relying on legitimate interests (or those of a third party) for a particular purpose and you believe your circumstances mean you are unjustifiably prejudiced by this processing and where we do not have compelling legitimate interests to override such objection;

    4. a right to ask us not to process your personal data for direct marketing purposes (including profiling for the purpose of direct marketing) and you can find out more information about how to unsubscribe or adjust your marketing preferences.

    5. a right to object to decisions being taken by automated means which significantly affects you;

    6. where we have sought your consent to use your personal data for a particular purpose, a right to withdraw your consent at any time. You can do that by the methods set out in this Privacy Policy or by any other method we inform you of when seeking your consent;

    7. a right in certain circumstances to have personal data rectified, blocked, erased or destroyed; and

    8. a right to complain to your data protection supervisory authority.

    These rights can be exercised by contacting us at privacy@bravebison.com p. In order to protect you, we reserve the right to verify your identity before processing any such request.

    If you are unsure about your rights you should contact your data protection supervisory authority. In the UK this will be the Information Commissioner’s Office.

    If you contact us in relation to your rights we will do our best to accommodate your request or objection. Please note, however, that not all rights are absolute. For example, data protection law contains exemptions to our obligations and individuals’ rights where personal data is used for the purpose of journalism. This means that individuals featured in our online publications may not be able to exercise their rights if those rights are not compatible with journalistic activities.

    California Residents and ‘Do Not Sell My Personal Data’ link

    California residents have the rights to access, receive a copy of and request the erasure of their personal data, as described above. We provide the following additional information on these rights:

    1. You may request, up to two times each year, that we disclose to you (1) the categories and specific pieces of personal data that we have collected about you, (2) the categories of sources from which your personal data is collected, (3) the business or commercial purpose for collecting your personal data, (4) the categories of third parties with whom we sold or disclosed your personal data for a business or commercial purpose, and (5) the business or commercial purpose for selling or disclosing your personal data

    2. You may request that we delete the personal data that we have collected from or about you. If we cannot delete all of your data, we will let you know the reason why, such as if we need to complete a transaction for you, detect and protect against fraudulent and illegal activity, exercise our rights or comply with a legal obligation.

    3. You may request to opt out of our disclosure of your personal data to third parties for their marketing purposes. If you opt out, going forward, we will not share your data with such third parties to use for their purposes, unless you later direct us to do so.     We will respond to your access or deletion request within 45 days unless we need additional time, in which case we will let you know. To exercise these rights, please contact us at privacy@bravebison.com. For verification purposes, you will be required to provide a photocopy or scanned image of identification that clearly shows your name and California address. We value your privacy and will not discriminate in response to your exercise of your privacy rights.

    Further to Paragraph titled What personal data do we collect? and Paragraph titled How will your personal data be used and shared? above, we make the following disclosures:

We disclose the following categories of personal data for a business purpose: Identifiers/contact information (including data defined as “personal information” in the California Customer Records law or as a protected classification under California or U.S. federal law), commercial information, marketing preferences, internet or other electronic network activity information, audio or visual information, professional or employment-related information, education information and inferences drawn from the above.

  10. UPDATING YOUR PERSONAL DATA

    You may review, correct, update or change your personal data at any time by contacting us at customerdata@minimba.com. Often, where you have signed up for an online account on one of our websites or mobile apps you can also amend your details via the settings for your online accounts.

  11. RETENTION

    We will retain your personal data for the period necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. Accordingly, your personal data shall be maintained for up to seven years following the end of the services we provide to you / your last contact with us. These retention periods may be extended if any applicable statutory or regulatory obligation requires us to hold information for a longer period.

    We generally do not delete our online publications which may be publicly available on an ongoing basis.

  12. CHANGES TO OUR PRIVACY POLICY

    If our Privacy Policy changes in any way, we will place an updated version on this page and we will take reasonable steps to make you aware of material changes to it. Regularly reviewing this page ensures that you are always aware of what personal data we collect, how we use it and under what circumstances, if any, we will share it with other parties.
